“At the beach, life is different. Time doesn’t move hour to
hour but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides,
and follow the sun.”

Are
you looking for a great beach vacation where you can park your car,
never having to move it for days, while relaxing in luxurious resort.
Sand Dunes Resort Oceanfront may be just what you are looking for.
This is a gorgeous resort with so much to offer that there is no need
to even leave. Just come, park your car, relax and have fun.
Sand
Dunes Resort is located in one of the best sections of Myrtle Beach;
74th Avenue which is a very upscale neighborhood. It is
one of the best and largest resort water parks for children along the
Grand Strand. This resort has much to boast about and the location
being right up against the ocean is the biggest one. It was
amazingly beautiful.
There
are many renting options to choose from at this resort including one,
two, or three bedroom condos, suites, or villas in one of the eight
buildings that make up the resort. We rented a three bedroom place
from a third party which I would not do again as the water park was
not included in our rental. If you rent directly from the resort,
that is included in the cost. Our rental had a full kitchen, three
bedrooms, two baths, and a great balcony with an ocean view of the
coast. The view was absolutely spectacular.
We
brought enough food to feed our family for four days since we were
not sure if any restaurants would be open during this time of COVID
19. Come to find out, most were open with strict new policies and
restrictions. The resort itself had many options such as Mia’s
Pizza and Subs, Dino’s Oceanfront Cafe, and Ocean Sweets where you
could get a lovely dessert or pastry topped with delicious ice cream.
This
resort was fully loaded with extras. There was a couple indoor
pools. One had a deep end and one was only 3 foot deep. The three
foot pool was wonderful for swimming laps and stayed uncrowded
through the weekend. There were also whirlpools next to it which
felt great stepping into the warm water after a good swim.
There
were numerous outdoor pools to enjoy as well. One had a small lazy
river and splash area for the children. Others had deeper water to
enjoy. It was nice having a variety of pools to choice from if one
was too crowded. The water park looked wonderful with a big lazy
river, splash pads, pool, and lots of extras for the children to play
in.
The
Fun Zone is also included with the rental of a condo through the
resort which includes a glow in the dark and mini golf course and a
fun arcade for the kids.
What
we appreciated more than anything was that the beach was right there.
Nice and close. They had life guards on duty during the day and
also umbrellas and chairs to rent. We could just stroll down to the
beach and when we were through, walk up the boardwalk to the resort,
rinse off at the outside showers, and then get into one of the
outside pools. That was heaven being able to jump into the cool
water after a swim in the ocean. There were tubes available to float
on in the pool for a leisurely ride on the smaller lazy river. One
time, Joe guided six or eight tubes strung together all around the
lazy river. What fun it was for me and all the kiddos.
Right
next to the pool was the Oceanside 74 Lounge in the main building
that served the fancy drinks and bar food. There were tables to sit
at both inside and out. There was a pool table inside and was a
great place to relax and look at the wonderful views of both the
ocean and pool. We became fast friends with the fantastic
bartender, Bethany who was a lovely and very friendly person. We
enjoyed watching her make her specialty drinks that she poured into a
frozen pineapple and topped with a slice of pineapple and a cherry.
She was a joy to be around and we made a habit of visiting her every
day. The bar was made of gorgeous wood that was intricately
designed. Bethany told us it was bought by one of the previous
owners and brought to the states from a bar in Germany. It is just
gorgeous.
One
past time that is not to be forgotten or overlooked was just sitting
on the balcony looking out over the ocean. Hearing the crashing
waves from the 16th floor was both relaxing and amazing
while feeling the warmth of the golden sun rays on us was perfection.
I will cherish the time we had just relaxing and looking at God’s
magnificent masterpiece in front of us. We did not take it for
granted and when we were in room, we spent the majority of our time
on that balcony.
While
walking around the resort, we found a small convenience store that
also carried some groceries, a gift shop, nail salon, exercise room,
and a guest laundry room. They thought of everything. Like I said
before, you never had to leave the resort if you didn’t want to.
The location of this resort was great in that it was close to many
great restaurants and attractions if you choose to go out.
We
were there the week of the 4th of July, and saw people
putting off amazing fireworks on the beach throughout the week. On
the Fourth itself, it was amazing. All the local municipal
fireworks were canceled but you would never know it. People lined
the beach putting off incredible professional fireworks. For as
far as you could see on the horizon, there were fireworks in all
directions. They continued for hours. I’ve never seen so many
fireworks in all my life. It was something to see. Being on the
16th floor, we got to see many fireworks at eye level.
It was an unbelievable show to see and I will surely cherish the
memory.
As
all trips, this one ended too soon. We had a great time at this
resort and will come back. Write the name of this resort down and
give them a try. If you are concerned with crowds, go from Monday
through Thursday when it is pretty quite even during the summer, this
year. Create lasting memories that will last a lifetime. Check them
out at: www.sanddunesmb.com.
They are located at 201 74th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach,
South Carolina and their phone number is 1-866-845-1011.
Till
next time. Bye for now.
