Maui Tropical Plantation Waikapu, Maui, Hawaii

Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us, or we find it not.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

We drove through the Maui countryside and came up on Maui Tropical Plantation. We decided to pull in to see this amazing farm. This park is surrounded by over 500 acres of farmland and this plantation has over 60 acres with 40 crops and hundreds of native plants to see. This is a working plantation and is open from 9 to 4. Admission is free and you can either walk around or pay for a tram tour. We preferred to walk around so we could see the plants up close.

What a beautiful and colorful farm this is to see. Maui Tropical Plantation is nestled in the Waikapu Valley with the greater West Maui Mountains in the background. There are great views of the Waikapu Valley. This plantation is located in Central Maui just three miles south of Wailuku.

The grow papaya, macadamia nuts, coffee, avocado, guava, pineapple, and so much more. This area, at one time was known for its sugar cane production. There is a beautiful lagoon to go and relax by and just breath in the beauty of this land. Their are ducks, turtles, birds, and fish to watch while relaxing.

The fauna and flora is really something to see and we enjoyed looking at all plants that were so different than we had ever seen. The colors and the tropical plants and trees were truly gorgeous.

After walking around the plantation, if you are hungry or thirsty you can go to the Mill House Restaurant. As you walk in, the aroma of Maui grown coffee fills the air. You can also get a bit to eat or something to drink. There is also a nice gift shop to visit with handmade local items and fruits for sale. They also have a zip line for the adventurous types.

We were happy we stopped here and stayed awhile. We recommend it and hope you will visit as we did. We are sure you will love it.
