Parish on Cherry. A fine restaurant in Macon, Georgia

You can’t just eat good food. You’ve got to talk about it too.”
Kurt Vonnegut

Before Joe and I go to any town, we always read up on what there is to do in that town as well as to pick the best places to eat. We heard good things about this restaurant and the reviews were great, so this was the restaurant of choice for our downtown Macon visit. Our requirements were, a nice place to sit, relax, and have a good meal after driving from Augusta. We were pleasantly surprised that this restaurant had all that and more.

We were able to park right up front and were happy that there was plenty of parking. We walked up to the door and the friendly host greeted us outside and lead us past the nice bar in the front of the building to our table. First thing I noticed was the lovely vibrant color of the wall to the rear of the restaurant and the side walls showing the exposed brick. Our waitress came up immediately and gave us a menus and a couple of waters. I guess we must have looked thirsty which was true and was much appreciated.

We were thrilled by all the great Creole and Cajun dishes on the menu. The menu had a lot to choose from and to top it off, they were reasonably priced. Joe ordered a nice beer off the impressive beer menu and I got a beautifully chilled glass of white wine. We relaxed and enjoyed our drinks while waiting for our meal. While relaxing, we found ourselves looking around at all the decorations and just enjoyed finding new things to see during our time there. We had an experienced waitress training a new employee taking care of us that day so we got twice the help and they were both very good. I ordered Cajun shrimp and salad and Joe got the lovely shrimp and grits. The food was excellent and so was the service and we would recommend it to all who are downtown Macon.

This is a wonderful restaurant featuring Creole/Cajun food along with a full menu. The quaint atmosphere of this restaurant has a feel of New Orleans to it and it is right in downtown Macon. The service was stellar and the food was something to go home and brag about. We will be back when we get back to Macon. Keep this in mind for casual dining while visiting Macon.
