“Because when you stop and look around, this life is pretty
amazing.”

On
this beautiful evening in Florida, we choose a restaurant that was
at the beach so we could have one more beach experience. We wanted
to find a restaurant that offered great food, views, and a laid back
atmosphere. We did some research to find the best restaurant that
would fit that build and after reading the reviews of this restaurant
that were glowing, we decided to give it a try. It sounded
fantastic with fresh seafood and great location.
We
found Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill, an excellent open air seafood
restaurant right on the beach in Clearwater right on the Gulf of
Mexico to have our final diner while in Florida. My oh my, we will
miss this state. We got to the restaurant on the early side, so
we got right in with our ‘whole crew’ even though they were busy.
The views from this restaurant were magnificent with the beach and
ocean right outside of the restaurant. We were all hungry and
looking forward to trying out the seafood.
The
wait staff came right up and took our order. We ordered their Garlic
Crab Fries as an appetizer and it was amazing. All our food came
out quickly and was wonderful. The famous grouper sandwich was huge
and a good choice, the Rockin’ Pasta was very good with good
seasonings, and the fresh shrimp was heavenly. We loved the
brightness of the building with all the fun vibrant beachy colors.
The laid back atmosphere was perfect for us with all the children. They have live bands here everyday. What more could you want.?
This
restaurant is one of five of Frenchy’s restaurants all located
within a mile of each other in Clearwater, Florida. The owner of the
restaurant, Michael Preston, grew up in a bilingual home in Quebec
and then moved to Michigan where he spoke both English and French. When
his friends found out that he spoke French, they nicknamed him
“Frenchy," thus the name of the restaurant. When he first came to Clearwater, he fell in love
with the area and decided to stay. After seeing it, who wouldn’t.
He opened his first restaurant in 1981 with the goal of having a
laid back restaurant with the freshest seafood possible. To ensure
that was the case, he purchased a fleet of fishing boats so he could get
just that. Along with his five restaurants, he has also opened a
seafood market where you can buy the freshest seafood and take it
home.
After
our fantastic meal, we went out onto the beach to watch the sunset.
This is a great place to chill and watch sunsets, as the beach is large and stellar. There is an outside Tiki Bar that is part of Frenchy’s
where you can get a cold drink and go and relax on the chairs they
have placed on the beach. We sat on the chairs and watched the
children play while having Pina Coladas as the sun slowly left the
sky. What could be better than that.
The
sunset was brilliant with all the vibrant colors. As we sat there,
gazing upon the sun as it went from a bright ball of flames to a
cooler golden orb casting light on everything with a radiant
glow. Nature is amazing if you take the time to notice and take it
all in. We appreciated how truly beautiful and special this moment
was. We could hear the waves lapping against the sandy beach and
felt the warmth of the sun as it was leaving us for anther day.
Closing my eyes, and feeling this warmth, with the sounds of the
beach nearby and children laughing and enjoying themselves, I felt
blessed and at peace. The sun now radiated an orange glow and the
colors became even more vibrant. We watched with anticipation as the
sun disappeared for another day. Then the hues changed from gold to
crimson to purple. Goodbye Sun. Till tomorrow. This was the
perfect ending of our day and our trip in Florida. Goodbye for now.
“Every
sunset brings the promise of a new dawn.”
Ralph
Waldo Emerson
