Top Dawg Tavern, Augusta, Georgia

Pull up a chair. Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious.”

This past weekend, we chose to stay close to home and check out a local new restaurant in our area. Our good friends, Birkie and Carol recommended this new restaurant in town, located at 2821 Washington Road, Augusta, Georgia and said we had to try it. We decided to give it a go. When we pulled in to park, we noticed the parking lot was already filling up and we thought to ourselves, that is a good sign.

When we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the hostess with a smile who welcomed us and took us right to our table. Walking to our table, we noticed the quote wall.   We loved that.   There are some good quotes there.  After we were seated, our waitress came up immediately afterwards and took our drink order. Joe was thrilled as they had Savannah River Brewing Company beer on tap so he ordered a nice cold one. Their menu is fantastic with so many choices. They serve, wings, burgers, wraps, salads, $7 lunches, and main courses from fish and chips to Filet Mignon stir fry. It was hard to choose what to eat. I decided on a salad with fried chicken and Joe had Ahi Tuna and their buffalo wings. Everything was perfect. Joe said the Ahi Tuna was the best.

We enjoyed our time here and loved the eclectic atmosphere. They designed this restaurant with a stylish open setting making it a great place to sit, relax, eat and have a cold drink. They have three separate dining areas as well as a separate area for a special gathering or a conference. They also have a large nicely designed bar where they will fix you the perfect drink of your choice. There are also more tables set up next to the bar and windows facing the outside deck. There is even a lounge area with comfy chairs, sofas, and coffee tables for adults only to sit.

They have a great outside section with tables, umbrellas, and misters if you choose to sit outside. During the nice weather, this area is separate from the interior only by garage doors that can be opened to bring the outside in. There are televisions throughout to watch while socializing so you can take in a game while you are there.

What I loved the most about this restaurant is what I discovered up against one of the brick walls. They have set up a table with chair leaned over for the fallen soldier. There is one plate, one glass, and a rose. Simplicity. Every item on the table represents something, such as the goblet faced down symbolizes that the soldier will not be drinking with us today. Seeing The Fallen Soldier table has always moved me as there are so many soldiers who have given their all for us so that we can have our freedom. God Bless. Stop by and see this remembrance to them and send up a prayer for all those we’ve lost. I’m glad this restaurant honors them. That makes Top Dawg Tavern an even more special place to go. They touched my heart. They offer a 15% discount for those who serve our country by being military, firefighter, or police officer.

They have great happy hour specials Monday through Friday from 4 – 7 as well as daily specials on the menu. They also have live entertainment on the patio every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. There is even a game room for all those to enjoy in the back of the restaurant. This restaurant seems to have thought of everything.

The owners of this restaurant are Renee and Brett Summers who dreamed of having a casual restaurants to visit to have a great meal and drinks with friends and family in a relaxed and comfy atmosphere. This is their fourth, Top Dawg Restaurant. The others are located in Bethlehem, Georgia, Summerville, SC, and Columbia, South Carolina. The first of their restaurants was opened in 2013. They opened this restaurant on July 15, 2019. Their dreams and ideas are working. What a great restaurant.

Check them out at: topdawgtavern.com. We highly recommend this restaurant.

It’s easy to impress me. I don’t need a fancy party to be happy. Just good friends, good food, and good laughs. I’m happy. I’m satisfied. I’m content.”
