“We all eat, and it would be a sad waste of opportunity to eat
badly.”

We
have driven by this restaurant on Washington Road in Augusta many
times but never gave them a try until now. It was a rainy day and
the perfect day to take some time, get a nice lunch, and relax with a
drink or two. We pulled into the parking lot which was fairly full,
found a spot to park, and sprinted across the parking lot quickly to
get out of the rain.
When
we entered, we noticed the unique American Western theme throughout
this restaurant. We loved the painting as you enter the restaurant
near the hostess stand of the gorgeous snow covered mountains with
the winding river and the fall trees. It is a
very calming painting and just perfect for this restaurant. The
hostess warmly greeted us and took us back to our table for lunch.
After
we were seated, our waitress came right away and took our drink order
and gave us menus. This restaurant also has a lovely bar with all varieties and flavors of fancy drinks along with wine and beer. They are known for their great Margaritas in many flavors. It was a nice looking menu with lots of tasty
sounding items. It was hard to choose. Our waitress told us this
restaurant makes amazing grilled steaks, mouth watering baby back
ribs, Parmesan crusted chicken, salmon, burgers and more. She also
recommended their chili cheese fries, fried pickles, and their
heavenly dessert, the Molten Lava Cake. Joe and I looked over the
menu and he ordered their wings and I ordered the 7 pepper sirloin
steak salad which we shared. The steak was very flavorful and tender
and the wings were done perfectly. We were very satisfied with our
choices.
The
first Longhorns Restaurant was opened on Peachtree Street, Atlanta in
1981. It was founded by George McKerrow Jr. and his best friend,
Brian. It was originally called Longhorn Steaks Restaurant and
Saloon. It didn’t take off till 1982 when a freak snowstorm hit
Atlanta and many motorist got stranded downtown. They tried this
restaurant and their steaks with the unique seasonings and loved
them. Afterwards they spread the word and the restaurant became a
popular place to go.
By
1990 Longhorn restaurants grew in popularity and many were opened in
the East, Midwest, Southwest, and Puerto Rico. In 2007, Longhorns
was sold to Darden Restaurant, Inc. and the headquarters is located
in Orlando, Florida.
We
loved the western decor throughout the restaurant and enjoyed having
our lunch in this relaxing atmosphere. We will be back as it was
lovely and definitely worth the money for a great lunch. The staff
is excellent and very friendly. We had no wait at lunch but dinner
can be busy so time it right so your wait is not that long.
Longhorns
Steakhouse hours are Sunday – Thursday from 11 am to 10 am and
Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 11 pm. They are open for lunch and
dinner. This restaurant is located at 3241 Washington Road, Augusta,
Georgia. Their phone number is 706-650-6600 and you can check them
