Are
you looking for an excellent seafood restaurant with fresh seafood in
Augusta, Georgia? If so, this is a great restaurant for you to try
out. You will not regret it. This restaurant has been an
institution for years here in Augusta. Everyone has heard of T’s
Restaurant and for good reason. The first restaurant was originated
in by Harry G. Fulcher and Ostelle F. Fulcher in 1946 on Millers Pond
in McBean, Georgia.
T’s
is Harry’s family nickname. Harry was the kind of person who
loved everyone and had a strong love for fishing which helped him
decide to create an outstanding seafood restaurant. One of his
specialties is his farm raised catfish. T’s built this restaurant
in 1952. Garrett Fulcher was the son of “T” and Ostelle and has
continued the family tradition for over 61 years.
We
pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant and saw the one story
brick building with blue awnings beckoning us to enter. Walking up
the to the front door is a welcoming porch with tables, chairs and a
nice bench to sit and enjoy the time as you wait to get into the
restaurant. It had that homey feeling. We visited at lunchtime, so
there was no wait.
When
we entered the restaurant, we walked into the waiting room that
looked like a comfortable living room. Joe and I were greeted by the
friendly hostess who guided us to our table in the back. The
restaurant was larger than we thought. The room we were sat in was
large with many open tables available. But before we left the
restaurant was packed.
We
looked through the menu and it was impressive. There was so many
items on the menu making it hard to choose what to order. They have
low country boils, seafood fest, as well as many other specialties
like fish fries. We ordered our drinks and our waitress brought
us out the famous hush puppies made from Ostelle Fulchers original
recipe dating back to 1946. They are different looking from the
usual ball hush puppies you get from other local restaurants in that
they are about 8 inches long and thin. They were delicious.
We
ordered our meal and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. The food was
fantastic. We especially enjoyed the boat shaped salad bar.
Everything was fresh and delicious. As we left the restaurant, we
noticed there was another whole large dining room with a fireplace
burning brightly. It appeared cozy.
They
serve lunch and dinner and are open Tuesday – Thursday 11 am – 9
pm, Friday 11 am – 10 pm, and Saturday 4:30 pm – 10 pm. They
are closed on Sunday and Monday but will open for special events.
They are located at 3416 Mike Padgett Hwy, Augusta. Their phone is
706-798-4145. Check them out: www.tsrestaurant.com.
We
will be back. It was a great stop. Till next time. Bye for now.
