96th Georgia Carolina State Fair, Augusta, Georgia (2018)

You loved Ferris wheels more than roller coasters because life shouldn’t be lived at full speed, but in anticipation and appreciation.”
Amy Harmon

Can you smell the popcorn, corn dogs, sausage dogs, and french fries? Then I guess you have arrived at the Fair. Step right up and have some fun. A group of our friends were going to the Fair tonight in Augusta, Georgia and looking for a fun night out and that sounded like a great way to spend the evening. Right after work today, we met up with a couple friends and headed to fair to meet up with our group. Fairs bring back the kid in you even if you don’t do the rides. It is the excitement of the children, the lights, the food, the music, and the entertainment.

Before we chose what we wanted to eat, we walked around the entire fair. There was so much food to choose from. This fair has more great food than I’ve ever seen before in a fair. I was like a kid in a candy shop. There was a popcorn stand as soon as you got in the gates and the heavenly smell of popcorn filled the air. Then it just got better and better at every step. Then the smell of french fries and sausage dogs came wafting through. Yum. The aroma was terrific. This is the ultimate culinary delight within the fairs fenced area. We met up with the rest of our friends at the fried Oreo cookie, fried Snickers bar, fried bubble gum, and funnel cake stand. I will not get into who had what but it all was delightful. Actually I promised I wouldn’t tell. You could tell by the sighs and the “Oh Mys” that everything was wonderful. We ordered a nice grilled sausage sandwich and fries. They were both wonderful. Of course there was even more food you could get like hot dogs, turkey legs, chicken, ice cream, caramel and candied apples, and water ice. Any fair food you could imagine was there. This was a den of temptations. There is nothing like fair food.

The rides were incredible for children from the kid roller coasters and dinosaur rides to small boat rides. There were slides, more rides, and shows for the children. The kids were all squealing with delight with huge smiles on their faces. They also had a Jurassic Park show for the kids and a horse show. They had agriculture inside the building so the kids could see a cow up close and pet them if they want.

The adult rides were amazing as well. They had the Himalayan ride, pirate ship ride, a hang glider ride, and the Ferris wheel that was absolutely gorgeous. There were lots more rides and our group enjoyed watching everyone having a great time on the rides and screaming with delight. As it got dark, the fair just got more and more beautiful when all the lights from all the rides were on. What an amazing fair and each night they have different specials. Tonight was a good deal - $55 a car load for all the rides you want and admission to the park. Keep a look out for good specials this week.

We had a blast with our friends. Thank God for great friends. Here we are just before we left. A group picture of a bunch of older kids enjoying a night at the fair. It was a blast and recommend this fun for people of all ages. This fair goes till the 21st of October so if you want to go, get a move on. It won’t be here for long. You can buy tickets ahead of time to make it a little cheaper. There are many places to buy them including South State Bank, Queensboro Bank, Barneys, Regions, Snovus, and Sprint Foods.

Good night to all and till we meet again. Till the next fair…..
