Augusta Greek Fest, Augusta, Georgia

Part of why I love Greek food so much is that it is simple, but it’s unpretentious. It’s authentic.”
Princess Tatiana of Greece and Denmark

Joe and I headed to the Augusta Greek Fest held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Telfair Street, Augusta, Georgia. We needed to take a break from all the normal work at home and what a great way to sit back and relax.

We have gone to the Greek Fest every year since we moved to Augusta in 1998. This is the thirtieth year they have put it on and it keeps getting better. This is a wonderful event to go to where they make authentic Greek foods and share their culture with the public. They have vendors that sell Greek items and unique items that are just gorgeous. They also gives tours of the church which are fascinating.

We got there just after noon on a Friday and it was packed. While in line we noticed there were some Navy personnel volunteering to help make this event great.   Thanks for volunteering. We grabbed some food and wine, sat down, and listened to the entertainment playing beautiful Greek music. It was a quiet day but over the weekend will get more energetic and fun with dancing and great entertainment.

They have a playground and a bouncy house to the kids to enjoy while mom and dad relax for awhile.

I am just letting anyone who is in Augusta know that this is a fun event and a great way to spend some time with your friends and family. Check it out and enjoy. This is a four day festival that will continue on Saturday from 11-10 pm and Sunday 11 to 6. Oh, and the best part is it is free.
