The Radisson Resort at the Port, Cape Canaveral, Florida

As you grow older, you learn a few things. One of them is to actually take the time you've allotted for vacation.”
John Battelle

Before leaving on our cruise this past weekend, we booked a room at the Radisson Resort at the Port in Cape Canaveral. This hotel is within one mile of the port and has 284 rooms that were all booked the night we stayed. We left Augusta, Georgia at 6 pm and we arrived at the resort at 12:30 am a good 423 miles from Augusta. We walked into the lobby and it was a very pretty, wide open area that was totally empty. It was very elegant and near the back door is a statue of an astronaut in a NASA space suit. We are very close to the Kennedy Space Center so that was appropriate plus this hotel is on Astronaut Blvd. The check in was easy and we were able to get right to our room which was perfect as we were exhausted. We just went to our room and relaxed before going to sleep. Our vacation had begun.

The next morning we had a nice breakfast for an additional 12.50 a piece at the resort before going to the pool. What a gorgeous resort. The pool area was just lovely with the rocks, waterfalls, pool, and hot tub. The tiki bar and outside restaurant near the pool is surrounded by tropical fauna. They made a mean pina colada and Joe had a local beer from a brewery right down the street which he enjoyed. We were able to sit and relax before going to the cruise ship. What a great way to start our trip.

We walked down the paths that wrap around the grounds and looked at the large Koi swimming in the Koi pond from the walking bridge over it. The winding trails are lovely tree lined and quiet. They did a great job with making this a beautiful area to relax. They have a kiddie pool with a fountain for the little ones and lounge chairs surrounding it.

The beach was nearby also and we had to make a quick trip to see the ocean. Florida beaches are so beautiful. What a beautiful day.

We went to the lobby about 15 minutes before we scheduled to go to the port so we could get a shuttle. The shuttle driver and helper were awesome. They were totally helpful. They made copies of our baggage tag for all our luggage and put it on our suitcases. Then the put it on the shuttle for us. When we got on the bus, we got to meet a couple very nice ladies from Virginia Beach. It was their first cruise and they were both excited and scared. The driver was a very nice man and we had a good discussion with him also on our ride to the cruise terminal. The resort made everything very easy. What a great start to our vacation.
